2021 Audi E-Tron GT Quattro and RS E-Tron GT make production-ready debut
The 2021 Audi E-Tron GT Quattro and its higher-performance sibling, the RS E-Tron GT, have officially rolled off the production line, marking Audi’s ambitious leap into the realm of luxury electric vehicles. Both models showcase Audi’s commitment to an electrified future without compromising on the brand’s heritage of sophisticated design and dynamic performance.
The E-Tron GT Quattro emerges as a flagship electric vehicle, boasting a dual-motor setup that produces 469 horsepower (350 kW) and 630 Nm of torque. This figure can temporarily surge to 522 horsepower (390 kW) with the aid of an overboost feature during launch control scenarios. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.9 seconds before reaching its top speed of 152 mph.
Meanwhile, the RS E-Tron GT sets a new standard for electric performance within the four rings’ stable. With its dual motors churning out an impressive 590 horsepower (440 kW) which can be temporarily boosted to a colossal 637 horsepower (475 kW), the RS variant makes the dash from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, with a maximum velocity capped at 155 mph.
Both models are underpinned by an advanced 800-volt architecture – similar to that found in Porsche Taycan – which enables rapid charging capabilities. The E-Tron GT can recharge from 5% to about 80% in just under 23 minutes when connected to a high-powered charger, helping to alleviate range anxiety and making longer journeys more feasible.
Speaking of range, the Audi E-Tron GT Quattro is expected to cover up to 238 miles on a single charge, while the RS version is projected slightly less due to its increased performance, promising around 232 miles per EPA estimates.
The exterior design is both aggressive and aerodynamically efficient, with hallmark Audi styling cues supplemented by distinctive elements like matrix LED headlights and animated light sequences that underscore its electric pedigree. Inside, Audi continues its tradition of luxurious and tech-driven cabins. A digital cockpit, central MMI touch display, and multifunctional steering wheel offer drivers intuitive control over the vehicle’s functions along with comfort and infotainment features commensurate with its luxe status.
Both cars represent a significant moment for Audi as they blend high-end electric mobility with emphatic designs that signal both progress and prestige. The production debut of these two vehicles not only pushes forward their electrification strategy but also provides consumers with powerful aspirational models poised at the cutting edge of EV technology.
