With the ever-evolving world of digital media, finding places to download or stream movies legally and for free has become easier than ever. Whether you’re on the hunt for Hollywood blockbusters, classics, independent films, documentaries, or international cinema, there are plenty of websites available.

.Crackle: Owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Crackle offers a range of movies, TV shows, and original series from various genres.

.Tubi: Hosts a vast selection of movies and TV shows that are available for free with minimal ads.

.Popcornflix: Offers a great variety of movies including comedy, romance, family/kids, drama, thrillers, dramas, horror, Spanish-language films and documentaries.

.Pluto TV: Presents free live-streaming of over 75 channels with genres ranging from movies to kids to sports.

.Vudu’s Movies on Us: While Vudu is known for its rental service, it also has a substantial ‘free’ section.

.Kanopy: Available through participating libraries and universities, it offers an array of indie films and educational content.

.Hoopla: Another library-connected service that provides access to a wide range of media including movies using your library card.

.Internet Archive: A treasure trove for classic movie lovers with its collection of old films and archival content.

.Roku Channel: It provides a selection of free movies to stream without needing a Roku device.

.YouTube: Not just for user-generated content; YouTube also hosts a variety of films available at no charge in their “Movies & Shows” section.

.Peacock TV: NBCUniversal’s streaming service offers a free tier which includes movies, TV shows and some live sports.

.Plex Free Movies and TV Shows: Plex has expanded from a software application to include streaming of free content including movies and TV series.

.Vimeo: Known as the platform for creatives to share their work; it also has on-demand sections where you can find some free feature-length films too.

.IMDb TV (formerly Freedive): IMDb’s own streaming service offering various titles without any subscription fee needed.

.FilmRise: This service has an extensive library which includes film festival favorites and indie classics that they have acquired licensing rights for.

.The Roku Channel on Web and Mobile Devices: Offers a varied selection whether or not you own a Roku streaming stick or other hardware from the company.

.Yidio: A platform that aggregates movies from other services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc., offering some titles for free viewing.

.Movies Found Online: Curates movies found online into one easy-to-use site – all the films here are believed to be in the public domain or available under Creative Commons licenses.

.Classic Cinema Online: Focuses on older content; this site is perfect for fans of silent films and Golden Age cinema.

.Top Documentary Films: As the name suggests – exclusively features documentary films covering various topics freely accessible online.

This list offers plenty of legal options to satisfy your movie-watching cravings without dipping into your wallet! Make sure you have good internet connectivity – some services may require signing up – then grab some popcorn and enjoy your movie night!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
