18 DIY Fidgets That Are Easy and Inexpensive to Make

Introduction:

Are you looking for fun and budget-friendly activities to keep yourself or your kids entertained? Look no further! In this article, we will explore 18 do-it-yourself (DIY) fidgets that are not only easy to make but also won’t break the bank. Let’s dive in and discover some creative and enjoyable fidgets!

1. Stress Ball:

Materials needed: balloons, flour or rice

Instructions: Fill a balloon with flour or rice, tie a knot, and squeeze away! This simple stress ball is perfect for relieving tension and anxiety.

2. Fidget Spinner:

Materials needed: paper, coin, tape, toothpick

Instructions: Cut out a circle from paper, attach a coin to the center using tape, and insert a toothpick through the hole. Spin away and enjoy!

3. Squishy Sensory Bag:

Materials needed: ziplock bag, hair gel, food coloring

Instructions: Fill a ziplock bag with hair gel, add a few drops of food coloring, seal it, and squish away! The squishy texture and vibrant colors make this fidget a delight to play with.

4. Velcro Strip Bracelet:

Materials needed: Velcro strips, fabric or duct tape

Instructions: Cut a Velcro strip into small pieces and attach them to a fabric or duct tape bracelet. The satisfying sound and feel of the Velcro will keep your hands occupied.

5. Tangle Toy:

Materials needed: pipe cleaners, beads

Instructions: Twist pipe cleaners together and add colorful beads along the way. This flexible and twistable fidget is excellent for tactile exploration.

6. Pop Bubble Wrap Keychain:

Materials needed: bubble wrap, keychain ring

Instructions: Cut a small piece of bubble wrap, punch a hole in one corner, and attach a keychain ring. Now you can relieve stress on the go by popping the bubbles!

7. Sand Zen Garden:

Materials needed: shallow container, sand, small rocks

Instructions: Fill a shallow container with sand and arrange small rocks on top. Use a mini rake or your fingers to create patterns and designs. This calming fidget will transport you to a zen garden.

8. Scented Putty:

Materials needed: clear glue, liquid starch, essential oil, food coloring

Instructions: Mix clear glue with a few drops of essential oil and your choice of food coloring. Gradually add liquid starch until the mixture becomes putty-like. Knead it and enjoy the soothing scent.

9. Zipper Bracelet:

Materials needed: zipper, ribbon or string

Instructions: Remove the pull tab from a zipper and thread it onto a ribbon or string. Slide it back and forth to occupy your hands with this simple but addictive fidget.

10. Tactile Ball:

Materials needed: balloon, cornstarch, water

Instructions: Mix cornstarch and water to create a gooey substance. Fill a balloon with this mixture, tie a knot, and squeeze the ball for a unique tactile experience.

Materials needed: clear jar, slime

Instructions: Fill a small clear jar with your favorite slime and secure the lid tightly. Squeeze, stretch, and squish the slime whenever you need a fun sensory experience.

12. Paper Clip Chain:

Materials needed: paper clips

Instructions: Connect paper clips one by one to create a long chain. Bend and twist the chain into various shapes for endless fidgeting possibilities.

13. Ribbon Wrist Band:

Materials needed: elastic band, ribbons

Instructions: Attach colorful ribbons to an elastic band and wear it as a wristband. Play with the ribbons and feel the satisfying movement as they flow through your fingers.

14. DIY Velcro Blocks:

Materials needed: craft foam sheets, Velcro dots

Instructions: Cut craft foam sheets into desired shapes and attach Velcro dots on all sides. Stack and arrange the blocks, then pull them apart and stick them together to create different structures.

15. Squeezy Bottle:

Materials needed: empty plastic bottle, water, dish soap

Instructions: Fill an empty plastic bottle halfway with water, then add a few drops of dish soap. Close the lid tightly and squeeze the bottle to create mesmerizing bubbles and soothing sounds.

16. Bouncy Ball:

Materials needed: cornstarch, school glue, borax, water, food coloringInstructions: Mix
cornstarch, school glue, borax, water, and food coloring to form a bouncy ball mixture. Roll it into a ball shape and let it dry. Now you have your very own homemade bouncy ball!
