Every woman knows the struggle of finding the perfect pair of high heel shoes only to find out they’re not as comfortable as they seemed at first. To help you turn those beautiful new heels into your go-to pair, we’ve compiled a list of 15 ways to break in high heel shoes.

1. Wear them indoors: Put on your new heels and walk around your house. This helps you get used to the shoes without scuffing them up outdoors.

2. Heat and socks: Wear thick socks with your heels and gently heat the tight areas using a hairdryer. This allows the material to stretch and conform to your feet.

3. Freezer trick: Fill two ziplock bags with water, place them inside your heels, and put the shoes in the freezer overnight. As the water freezes, it expands and can help stretch out tight spots.

4. Shoe stretching spray: Apply shoe stretch spray on your heels before wearing them to help loosen up tight materials.

5. Professional shoe stretching: Bring your heels to a professional shoe repair shop for more targeted stretching.

6. Shoe trees: Invest in adjustable shoe trees that can fit inside your heels and apply pressure to specific areas, helping to stretch the material.

7. Rubbing alcohol: Dampen a cloth with rubbing alcohol and rub it onto tight spots on your high heel shoes to soften stiff materials.

8. Walk on different surfaces: Walking on various surfaces like carpets, stairs, or hardwood floors can help work in any stiffness from new high heel shoes.

9. Bend and twist: Gently bend and twist the soles of your new heels to soften any rigidity.

10. Alternate breaking-in sessions: Gradually wear your high heel shoes for increasing amounts of time (e.g., 15 minutes one day, then 30 minutes the next).

11. Apply moleskin or gel pads: Prevent blisters by applying moleskin or gel pads to areas where your shoes may rub against your feet.

12. Build up heel height gradually: If you’re new to walking in high heels, start with a shorter heel and work up to higher heels over time to build strength and confidence.

13. Walking technique: Practice walking with proper posture and weight distribution to eliminate any unnecessary pressure points on your feet.

14. Consider inserts: Cushioned shoe inserts can provide extra comfort for sore spots in your high heel shoes.

15. Break-in period: Remember, breaking in high heel shoes takes time, so be patient and wear them frequentlybefore wearing them to a special event or for a long day out.
Breaking in high heel shoes can seem like a daunting task, but with these 15 tips, you can step out confidently and comfortably in no time.

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
