1. Host a backyard barbecue: Gather your family and friends for a fun-filled day of grilling, games, and laughter in your backyard. Try out new recipes and serve delicious appetizers and refreshing drinks.

2. Attend a parade or festival: Many cities host Labor Day parades and festivals to commemorate the essence of the holiday. Dress in red, white, and blue, as a symbol of the American worker, and march along with others as you celebrate the workforce.

3. Take a weekend getaway: Use the long weekend to explore a nearby destination. Visit national parks, beaches, or historical sites to unwind from daily life.

4. Volunteer: Give back to your community by taking part in local volunteer efforts on Labor Day. Help clean up public spaces or assist with food drives to make your hometown a better place for everyone.

5. Support local businesses: Go shopping at locally-owned stores or dine at independent restaurants to show appreciation for small business owners who work hard every day.

6. Have a picnic in the park: Pack your favorite snacks, sandwiches, and drinks in a basket, invite friends or family members, and enjoy outdoor dining together in a park.

7. Catch up on rest: Labor Day is all about taking a break from work and appreciating the effort put into maintaining jobs over the year. Use this time to catch up on much-needed sleep and relaxation.

8. Run a marathon or participate in a sports event: Various marathons are often scheduled around Labor Day weekend, so why not join in? If running isn’t your thing, consider participating in other local sports events or organizing one with friends.

9. Learn about the history of labor movements: Dedicate some time during Labor Day weekend to expand your knowledge about the history of labor movements in our country.

10. Visit a museum or exhibit dedicated to workers’ rights: Several museums across the United States display exhibits dedicated to labor movements and workers’ rights, making Labor Day the perfect time to visit and learn about their history.

11. Enjoy a movie marathon: Host a movie night and watch films related to the workforce or labor movement. This is an excellent opportunity to bond with friends and family while learning about the importance of workers’ rights in America.

12. Try new DIY projects: Use your time off to complete some home-improvement projects or try your hand at a new craft or hobby.

13. Create a memory book: Take the opportunity to reflect on your accomplishments during the past year and create a memory book filled with photos, mementos, and messages from family members or colleagues who have had an impact on you.

Labor Day is not just about taking some time off; it’s an opportunity to celebrate the hard work you’ve put in throughout the year. These 13 ideas will help you commemorate Labor Day in unique and enjoyable ways while appreciating the efforts of workers around the country

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
