Spread the love

Texting someone new can be daunting, but fear not! If you’re wondering how to text a guy for the first time, we have you covered with these 11 foolproof methods, complete with examples.

1. Start with a friendly greeting

A simple “Hey!” or “Hi!” can break the ice and show you’re friendly. Follow it up with a question or comment to get the conversation going.

Example:

“Hey there! How’s your day going?”

2. Crack a joke

Who doesn’t love a good laugh? Lighten the mood and make him smile with a funny text.

Example:

“I must be a snowflake because I’ve fallen for you! 😂”

3. Mention mutual interests

Text about something you both enjoy to create instant rapport and find common ground.

Example:

“Did you catch last night’s episode of [TV show]? 📺 I couldn’t believe that plot twist!”

4. Compliment him subtly

A veiled compliment can make him feel good without coming on too strong.

Example:

“I heard you were great at playing guitar! 🎸 Maybe you could teach me someday?”

5. Share something personal

Reveal something interesting about yourself to pique his interest.

Example:

“I went hiking this weekend and snapped an incredible photo of the sunset! 🌄 Check this out.”

6. Offer assistance or advice

Offering help or guidance on something he may need demonstrates kindness and, in turn, might foster deeper connections.

Example:

“I noticed you’re into photography. 📷 I know some great spots around town if you’re ever looking for locations to shoot!”

7. Use emojis wisely

A well-placed emoji adds some fun to your message without overdoing it.

Example:

“What are your plans for the weekend? 😊”

8. Send an interesting article or video

Sharing something you recently came across stimulates conversation and indicates shared interests.

Example:

“Check out this cool article I found about the history of rockets! 🚀 Thought you might find it fascinating.”

9. Be confident

Confidence is attractive. Casually invite him to join you in a group activity or social event.

Example:

“A couple of friends and I are going to that new sushi place downtown on Saturday. You should join us!”

10. Play the numbers game

Use circumstances as an excuse to exchange numbers and initiate conversation.

Example:

“We’re teaming up for this group project, let’s exchange numbers so we can stay in touch! 😃”

11. Be direct

Sometimes it’s best just to be straightforward. There’s no harm in letting him know that you want to get to know him better.

Example:

“I enjoyed talking to you at the party last night! 😊 Let’s keep the conversation going?”

Experiment with these 11 tactics to text a guy for the first time, and remember—confidence is key! Happy texting!
