Scratched glasses can be both frustrating and disappointing, especially when they have a protective coating. Fortunately, there are several methods to fix scratched glasses with coating that are both simple and cost-effective. In this article, we’ll explore 11 ways to repair these scratches and bring your glasses back to life.

1. Toothpaste: Apply a small amount of non-abrasive toothpaste on a clean cotton cloth. Gently rub the toothpaste over the scratch in circular motions for about 10 seconds, then rinse the lenses with cold water and dry them with a soft cloth.

2. Baking soda: Create a paste by mixing equal parts of baking soda and water. Apply the paste onto the scratch using a soft cloth, rubbing in gentle circular motions for 10-15 seconds. Rinse and dry your glasses afterwards.

3. Car wax: A small amount of car wax can work wonders on scratched lenses. Using a soft cloth, apply car wax to the scratched area in circular motions. Allow it to dry for a few minutes before buffing away the excess wax.

4. Windshield polish: Like car wax, windshield polish can help remove surface scratches on your glasses. Apply it with a soft cloth in circular motions until the scratch disappears, then rinse your glasses and pat them dry.

5. Rubbing alcohol: Combine equal parts of rubbing alcohol and water in a spray bottle. Spritz the solution onto the lenses, then use a soft cloth to gently rub away the scratch.

6. Brass polish: Apply brass polish to your lenses using a cotton ball or cloth, rubbing gently in circular motions until the scratches are gone. Be sure to clean your glasses thoroughly after using brass polish.

7. Scratch repair kits: There are various eyeglass scratch repair kits available on the market that can make fixing scratched lenses quick and easy. Follow the instructions provided with the kit to ensure the best results.

8. Furniture polish: Spray a small amount of furniture polish onto a soft cloth and gently rub it over the scratched area until the scratch is no longer visible. Clean your glasses afterwards to remove any residue.

9. Vinegar: Mix equal amounts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spritz the solution onto your glasses and use a soft cloth to rub the scratches gently. Rinse your glasses after using this method.

10. Jeweler’s rouge: Purchase jeweler’s rouge in powder form, mix with water to create a paste, and apply it directly onto the scratch. Use a soft cloth to buff it away, rinse your glasses, and pat them dry.

11. Professional repair: Sometimes, it’s best to leave it to the professionals. Many opticians offer scratch repair services for those who feel unsure about attempting these fixes at home or if DIY methods fail to solve the problem.

These 11 simple methods can help you fix scratched glasses with coating quickly and inexpensively. Always remember to clean your glasses after using any of these techniques to ensure that no residue is left behind, which could further damage your lenses or irritate your eyes.
