The United States is home to an incredible array of state parks, each offering its own unique natural beauty and opportunities for adventure. If scenic hikes are what you’re after, these 10 state parks should be at the top of your list:

.Adirondack Park, New York- This immense park in upstate New York features over 2,000 miles of trails winding through forests, around lakes and streams, and up the Adirondack High Peaks.

.Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park, Hawaii – Known for dramatic sea cliffs and deep valleys, the Na Pali Coast offers strenuous hikes like the Kalalau Trail which provides breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and lush landscapes.

.Zion State Park, Utah – With its iconic red cliffs and canyons, Zion offers a range of hikes including the famous Angels Landing and The Narrows where you can wade through a gorge with towering walls on either side.

.Acadia National Park, Maine – Though technically a national park, Acadia’s state-run nature makes it worthy of mention. It offers hikes with stunning vistas like the Precipice Trail which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

.Big Bend Ranch State Park, Texas – Next to Big Bend National Park, this massive state park features rugged desert landscape with trails leading to canyons, riverside oases and high mountain ridges.

.Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Michigan – Offering some of Michigan’s most pristine wilderness areas, ‘the Porkies’ are a hiker’s paradise with trails that guide visitors through old-growth forests to scenic overlooks like Lake of the Clouds.

.Custer State Park, South Dakota – At Custer State Park you can hike through scenic terrain teeming with wildlife; trails run through grasslands dotted with buffalo herds and granite peaks.

.Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee – Home to some of Tennessee’s most impressive waterfalls and gorges. Hikes here will take you along suspension bridges and past cascades within its lush forests.

.Torreya State Park, Florida – Known for its panoramic views of the Apalachicola River; it offers challenging trails such as the Torreya Hiking Trail which takes hikers past ravines and high bluffs.

.Smith Rock State Park, Oregon – A mecca for rock climbers but also home to miles of hiking trails that loop around its towering rock spires with spectacular views often accompanied by sights of golden eagles or river otters playing below in the Crooked River.

Each of these parks is cherished for its hiking experiences as well as the unique natural beauty it preserves. Whether you’re looking for a challenging uphill climb or an easy trail with stunning vistas, there’s something in this list for every type of adventurer.
