Despite the mixed feelings that fans have towards filler episodes in anime, some fillers manage to enhance the viewing experience by providing deeper insight into the characters and the world they inhabit. Here are 10 Naruto filler episodes that actually improve the series:

.”The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi” (Episode 151) –This episode provides a look into Naruto’s favorite book and its author, Jiraiya. It adds depth to Naruto’s aspirations and his connection with his mentor.

.”Laughing Shino” (Episode 186) –Focusing on one of the more stoic characters, this episode brings out Shino’s personality in a rare way, making it both memorable and enjoyable.

.”Mix it, Stretch it, Boil it Up! Burn, Copper Pot, Burn!” (Episode 168) –A light-hearted episode that showcases different culinary skills among the characters and underscores themes of hard work and camaraderie.

.”Gotta See! Gotta Know! Kakashi-Sensei’s True Face!” (Episode 101) –A fan favorite, this episode follows Team 7’s comedic attempts to reveal what lies beneath their sensei’s mask.

.”The Star Guard Mission” (Episode 178-183) –Though a multi-episode arc, it dives into the history and lore of a hidden village not deeply explored in manga, giving fans more world-building elements.

.”Kiba’s Long Day” (Episode 184) –Giving spotlight to Kiba, this story is about friendship and loyalty as it delves into a day in his life revealing more about his character.

.”The Curry of Life” (Episode 152-157) –This arc provides humor, action, and character development for Tenten and Neji while reinforcing bonds within Team Guy.

.”The Runaway Ninja at the Negotiation Table!” (Episode 213) –Offers a strategic side of the series involving diplomacy and negotiations extending beyond just brute strength.

.”Naruto’s School of Revenge” (Episode 235) –Examines concepts of forgiveness and vengeance through Naruto’s eyes as he helps a fellow ninja find peace.

.”The New Chunin Exam Arc” (Episodes 394-413) –Although lengthy, this arc revisits the Chunin Exams offering valuable growth to secondary characters and new matchups for fans to enjoy.

While some fillers can be skipped without missing out on the main plotline, these episodes provide additional layers that enrich the Naruto universe for viewers who seek to fully immerse themselves in its world.
