Fighting games have been a staple in the gaming community, providing players with adrenaline-pumping action and memorable characters. Some of these iconic games have also inspired animated movies that bring the excitement of the digital arena to the screen. Here, we delve into the 10 best animated movies based on fighting games:

1. “Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie” (1994) – An animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game, this film delves into the stories of Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and others as they battle against the evil M. Bison.

2. “Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture” (1994) – Based on SNK’s ‘Fatal Fury’ series, this anime film follows Terry Bogard and his friends as they search for pieces of armor that could bring about immense power or ultimate destruction.

3. “Tekken: The Motion Picture” (1998) – A loose adaptation of the ‘Tekken’ series by Bandai Namco, this movie tells the story of betrayal and revenge revolving around the Mishima family.

4. “Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins” (1995) – Serving as a prequel to the live-action film, it uses a mix of traditional animation and CGI to explain the origins of some characters.

5. “Street Fighter Alpha: The Animation” (1999) – Also known as ‘Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie’, this film expands on the backstories and relationships between characters in Capcom’s ‘Street Fighter’ franchise.

6. “Mortal Kombat: Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge” (2020) – This recent animated feature focuses on Scorpion’s storyline and provides a violent but compelling narrative that stays true to the franchise’s roots.

7. “The King of Fighters: Another Day” (2005-2006) – A four-episode ONA series based on SNK Playmore’s ‘The King of Fighters’ series that ties into the events before ‘The King of Fighters XI’.

8. “Persona 4: The Animation” (2011-2012) – Though not a traditional fighting game, Atlus’s ‘Persona 4’ spawned a battle-based spinoff that gained enough popularity to offer this anime series following its original RPG incarnation.

9. “BlazBlue: Alter Memory” (2013) – Based on Arc System Works’ ‘BlazBlue’, this anime series follows Ragna the Bloodedge and his quest against the controlling Novus Orbis Librarium.

10. “Samurai Shodown: The Motion Picture” (1994) – Also known as ‘Samurai Spirits’, this movie brings SNK’s game to life as it narrates the warriors’ fight against an evil entity wishing to plunge the world into chaos.

These animated adaptations provide not only entertainment for fans but also an introduction for newcomers to some of gaming’s most legendary battles and narratives. Whether it is through hand-drawn artistry or computer-generated graphics, these films capture the essence of their source material and give viewers thrilling new ways to experience their favorite fighters’ stories.
