Amman, the capital city of Jordan, is a fascinating destination with a rich history, vibrant culture, and various neighborhoods that cater to different preferences. Here are six of the best areas to stay in Amman based on experience:

1. Jabal Amman: One of the oldest parts of the city, Jabal Amman is known for its historical significance and stunning architecture. The area is perfect for travelers interested in culture and history. With its famous Rainbow Street lined with shops, cafes, and art galleries, it’s an excellent spot for those who enjoy walking and soaking up the local atmosphere.

2. Abdoun: Abdoun is one of the most modern and upscale neighborhoods in Amman. It’s well-suited for luxury travelers looking for high-end accommodations, sophisticated dining options, and designer shopping boutiques. It is also home to several embassies and is considered one of the safest areas in the city.

3. Shmeisani: Ideal for business travelers, Shmeisani hosts numerous corporate offices, hotels, and services that cater to professionals. It’s also close to major attractions such as the King Abdullah I Mosque and has easy access to public transportation.

4. Downtown (Al-Balad):For those who want to be in the heart of Amman’s hustle and bustle, Downtown is the place to be. It’s great for budget travelers as it offers more affordable lodging options. You’ll find traditional markets (souqs), fascinating Roman ruins like the Amman Citadel, and local eateries serving delicious Jordanian cuisine.

5. Sweifieh: Known for its entertainment options, Sweifieh is lively day and night with malls like Al Baraka Mall and vibrant nightlife spots. Although it can be a bit noisy, it’s perfect for younger visitors or those who are looking for fun things to do after sundown.

6. Luweibdeh: Luweibdeh is a quiet residential neighborhood that has recently started attracting artists and young entrepreneurs. This area provides a gentle pace of life compared to other parts of Amman while still offering plenty of cafes, small shops, and art galleries.

Each area has its unique charm and advantages depending on your preferences regarding culture, lifestyle, budget or travel purpose when choosing where to stay in Amman.
