Nintendo Switch Lite: All colors, all angles, and vs. Switch

The Nintendo Switch Lite is a dedicated handheld addition to the Nintendo Switch family. Released after the original Switch, it’s aimed at gamers who prefer a more portable and affordable console. Unlike its predecessor, the Lite version does not support output to a TV as it lacks a dock and has built-in controllers rather than detachable Joy-Cons.

When it comes to colors, the Switch Lite has offered several options since its launch to appeal to different tastes. The initial lineup included three distinct shades: Yellow, Gray, and Turquoise. Nintendo later added a vibrant Coral option to the mix as well as a special edition light blue hue designed in collaboration with the popular game “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

The color palette of the Switch Lite is not purely aesthetic but also helps to differentiate it from the regular Switch. These colors wrap around the entire device, offering a uniform look from all angles. The matte finish of the consoles provides better grip and resistance to fingerprints, ensuring that they maintain their vibrant appearance even during extended gaming sessions.

Comparing the Switch Lite to the original Switch highlights several differences beyond color choices. The most significant is the Lite’s smaller screen size – 5.5 inches compared to 6.2 inches on the original. Additionally, because the controls are integrated into the system itself, there are no rumble features or IR motion cameras which are present in the detachable Joy-Cons of its larger counterpart.

The choice between the two models often comes down to usage preferences; whether a user prioritizes portability and price (Switch Lite) or versatility and connectivity (Switch). The original Switch also permits multiplayer gaming on the same device with separated Joy-Cons, which isn’t possible with the Lite unless additional controllers are purchased.

For those selecting a Switch Lite, each color can be viewed on retail websites or in person from all angles before purchase, ensuring buyers can pick their preferred shade that best fits their style.
