The iPhone calculator is a useful feature that comes pre-installed on every iPhone, and it can be a practical tool to help you with simple calculations. This article will provide a step-by-step guide on how to use the iPhone calculator efficiently.

Step 1: Accessing the Calculator App

To access the calculator on your iPhone, first, unlock your device and swipe your home screen to the left. Locate the calculator app icon, which resembles a simple calculator. Tap on the icon to open the app.

Step 2: Basic Functions

The iPhone calculator has all basic four arithmetic operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division buttons – they are labeled ‘+’, ‘-‘, ‘x’, and ‘÷’ respectively. To perform any of these operations:

1. Enter the first number by tapping those numbers

2. Tap one of those operation buttons

3. Enter the second number

4. Press the “=” button for results

For example, if you want to add 5 and 10:

1. Press 5

2. Press +

3. Press 10

4. Press =

Step 3: Advanced Functions

The iPhone has more functions available when changing it to landscape mode.

If you rotate your phone sideways while in the app, it will reveal additional buttons for scientific calculations like square root (√), PI (π), natural log (ln), exponent function (E), sine (sin), cosine (cos), and tangent (tan). Be sure to have auto-rotate(screen orientation) unlocked.

Step 4: Clearing Your Screen

Use “C” button if you want to clear just the last input and “AC” button if you wish to clear everything entered so far.

Step 5: Percentage Functions

Calculating percentages using your iPhone calculator can be extremely handy for figuring out tips or sales tax amounts.

1. Enter the number you want to find the percentage of

2. Press the “%” button

For example, if you’re going to calculate 20% of 50:

1. Press 50

2. Press %

3. Press 20

4. Press =

Step 6: Using Memory Buttons

By using “M+” and “M-“, you can store the numbers either by adding (M+) or subtracting (M-) them to/from your current memory value. To recall your stored value, press the “MR” button. To clear all memory, press “MC”.

In conclusion, the iPhone calculator is more practical than it may initially appear as it handles both basic operations and advanced functions. Utilizing this guide will allow you to take full advantage of its features to help you handle various mathematical calculations in daily life seamlessly.
