Facebook and Instagram are two of the most popular social media platforms in the world. While the two platforms are owned by the same company, they operate independently. Instagram users have an option to link their account to their Facebook account. Linking the two accounts can provide users with several benefits, such as sharing Instagram posts on Facebook and allowing Facebook friends to find and follow the user on Instagram. However, there might be situations when you would need to unlink Facebook from Instagram. Here is a guide on how to do that.

Reasons for Unlinking Facebook from Instagram

There could be numerous reasons why a user decides to unlink Facebook from Instagram. Here are a few common ones:

1. Privacy concerns: If you no longer feel comfortable sharing your Instagram posts on Facebook or letting your Facebook friends follow your Instagram content, you should consider unlinking the two accounts.

2. Disconnecting from Facebook: Some users might have decided to completely quit Facebook, leading them to have no reason to keep their Instagram account linked to Facebook.

3. Personal preference: Just as some users prefer not to share Instagram posts on Facebook, others might not want Facebook friends to see their Instagram account.

Steps to Unlink Facebook from Instagram

Now that you understand why some users might need to unlink Facebook from Instagram let’s go over the steps on how to do this. Follow the below steps to unlink the Facebook account with Instagram:

1. Launch Instagram: Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.

2. Go to your Instagram profile: Tap on your profile icon located at the bottom right corner of your screen.

3. Select Settings: Select the three-line (hamburger) icon located in the top right corner of your Instagram profile.

4. Access Linked Accounts: Scroll down and select ‘Linked Accounts’ under the ‘Settings’ option.

5. Unlink Facebook from Instagram: Select the Facebook tab and tap on the ‘Unlink Account’ option. Confirm the action by tapping on ‘Yes, Unlink.’

6. Login to Facebook: If prompted, log in to your Facebook account and confirm that you want to unlink the two accounts.
After you complete these simple steps, your Instagram account will no longer be connected to your Facebook account, and your content will no longer be automatically shared between the accounts.

Conclusion

Linking Instagram to Facebook is an excellent way to build your social media presence and connect with followers across multiple platforms. However, there might be situations when you would need to unlink the two accounts. Follow the simple steps above to unlink Facebook from Instagram, and remember to always prioritize your privacy and personal preferences when managing your social media accounts.
