If you still own an old iPod and want to transfer its music onto your computer or iPhone, you might face some difficulty. Earlier, iTunes used to be the go-to media player, but with the release of Apple Music, it has become a bit tricky.

However, there are different methods that you can try to transfer the music from an old iPod to your computer or iPhone. Here’s how to do it:

Method 1: Transfer Music from Old iPod to Computer

The first method is to transfer the music from your old iPod to your computer using iTunes. Although Apple doesn’t encourage this method, it is still possible.

Step 1: Launch iTunes on your computer.

Step 2: Connect your old iPod to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 3: In the iTunes main window, click on the iPod icon to open the Summary page.

Step 4: Check the “Manually manage music and videos” option to enable disk use.

Step 5: Go to “File” > “Devices” > “Transfer Purchases from [iPod name]”. This will transfer all purchased music and apps from your iPod to your computer.

Step 6: To transfer non-purchased music, look for the iPod device in the “This PC” or “My Computer” window. Once located, open the iPod accordingly and navigate to the “iPod_Control” folder. Within this folder, you will find a folder with the name “Music.” Copy this folder and save it to your computer.

Method 2: Transfer Music from Old iPod to iPhone

If you want to transfer music from your old iPod to your iPhone, you need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Connect your old iPod to your computer and copy the music files that you want to move to your iPhone.

Step 2: Once done, connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes.

Step 3: Click on your iPhone’s icon, located on the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Go to the “Music” tab and select “Sync Music.”

Step 5: Choose the “Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres” option.

Step 6: Select the music files you want to sync with your iPhone and click “Apply” to save the changes.

Method 3: Use Third-Party Software to Transfer Music

If you are not comfortable using iTunes, you can use third-party software to transfer the music from your old iPod to your computer or iPhone. Some of the best software available in the market are:

1. iMazing – An all-in-one iOS device management software that lets you transfer music, videos, photos, and more from your iPod to your computer or iPhone.

2. Sharepod – This software lets you copy music, playlists, and videos from your iPod to your computer or iPhone without using iTunes.

3. TouchCopy – TouchCopy lets you transfer music, playlists, and videos from your iPod to your computer, iPhone or iPad by dragging and dropping.
