1. Introduction

Intermatic timers are among the most reliable and versatile time-based control devices on the market today. They can be used for various applications like watering plants, turning on/off lights or controlling heating systems. This article will guide you through the process of setting an Intermatic timer in 12 easy steps.

2. Identify the Timer Model

Before beginning, identify the specific Intermatic timer model you have. Each model may have slightly different setup procedures or features. The model number is usually located on the back or bottom of the timer.

3. Gather Necessary Tools

You’ll need a small screwdriver, a pen or pencil, and your chosen Intermatic timer for this task. Make sure to locate the timer’s instruction manual as well.

4. Set the Time of Day

Locate the clock setting dial on your Intermatic timer. The dial usually has a small arrow or mark that indicates the current time of day. Rotate the dial clockwise until the mark lines up with the current time.

5. Locate ON/OFF Trippers

Find the ON and OFF trippers, which are the small pins or tabs used to set when you want your device to turn on and off during a 24-hour period.

6. Set ON Tripper

Select when you would like your device to turn on, and then attach or slide the ON tripper into position at that time on your timer’s dial.

7. Set OFF Tripper

Choose when you want your device to turn off and attach or slide the OFF tripper into position at this time on your timer’s dial.

8. Adjust Time Window if Necessary

If your model has a time window feature, adjust it according to your preferences by turning any surrounding dials or using separate buttons as indicated in your specific timer’s instruction manual.

9. Set Mode (if available)

Some Intermatic timers have various modes or settings for different applications. Check your instruction manual to see if your model has this feature and set it accordingly.

10. Double-check Settings

Confirm that all settings are accurate, checking the ON and OFF times, as well as any additional settings such as mode or time window.

11. Plug Your Device into the Timer

Connect the device you want to control, such as a lamp or heater, directly into the Intermatic timer’s outlet.

12. Plug Timer into Wall Outlet

Finally, plug the timer itself into a wall outlet. The timer will now control your device according to the settings you have selected.

That’s it! You have successfully set up your Intermatic timer. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that your devices will automatically turn on and off according to the schedule you’ve created.
