If you have set up parental controls on your Kindle device, it can help keep children from accessing inappropriate content. However, it can be quite frustrating if you forget or misplace your parental controls password, and you can’t access your Kindle. Unfortunately, if you forget or lose your parental controls password, you cannot recover it. The only feasible option is to reset the password to regain control of your device.

Here is a straightforward guide on how to reset a parental controls password on Kindle:

1. Turn on your Kindle device and ensure that it is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

2. Go to the “Menu” button on the home screen and select “Settings.”

3. From there, select “Device Options.”

4. Scroll down and select “Reset to Factory Defaults” at the bottom of the page.

5. You’ll be prompted with a warning message about the reset. To continue the process, type “reset my kindle” into the text box.

6. Tap the “Reset” button.

7. Your Kindle device will then reboot and reset itself to its factory default settings. This process can take several minutes, depending on your device model.

8. After resetting the device, you will need to re-register your Kindle with your Amazon account details.

9. Once your Kindle is registered and ready to use, turn on parental controls again through the “Menu” button on your home screen, selecting “Settings,” “Device Options,” and then “Parental Controls.”

10. Create a new password or disable parental controls altogether if you do not want to utilize them going forward.

Resetting your Kindle to its factory default settings will erase all the data on your device, including books, documents, movies, photos, and more. So, it’s crucial to have a backup of all your data before resetting your device to avoid losing valuable information on your Kindle. You can back up your Kindle data by copying it to your computer or saving it to Amazon’s cloud storage service.

In summary, forgetting your Kindle’s parental controls password can be frustrating, but the only solution is to reset your device to its factory defaults. Once you’ve reset your device, re-register it, and set up parental controls with a new password or disable them altogether. Follow these steps above to reset a parental controls password on Kindle.
