1. Define your goals: Before starting, determine the purpose of your dog show. It may be for fundraising, promoting your local breed club or simply providing entertainment for the community.

2. Establish a budget: Estimate the expenses for organizing the event, such as venue rental, awards, advertising, insurance and other miscellaneous costs.

3. Choose a date and location: Select a suitable date and venue for your dog show. Consider factors like availability of indoor or outdoor space, parking facilities, restrooms and accessibility for both participants and spectators.

4. Form an organizing committee: Assemble a team of dedicated volunteers to help you plan and execute the event. Assign various responsibilities like marketing, registration, logistics and judging coordination.

5. Draft a schedule of events: Outline the order and format of contests or demonstrations in your dog show. This may include various categories such as obedience, agility, trick performance or breed-specific competitions.

6. Set rules and regulations: Establish clear guidelines for participation to ensure safety and fairness among contestants. Include details on eligibility criteria, registration fees and specific performance requirements.

7. Advertise your event: Promote your dog show through social media platforms, local newspapers, community bulletin boards and pet-friendly businesses in your area.

8. Invite judges: Identify qualified judges from within or outside the dog community to evaluate performances during competitions. Provide them with information on contest rules and evaluation criteria.

9. Manage registrations: Inform potential participants about registration deadlines, fees and submission requirements through your advertisements or website.

10. Prepare the venue: Set up proper signage at the event location to guide attendees through various stages of registration and competition process. Ensure availability of adequate seating arrangements for spectators.

11. Arrange necessary equipment: Acquire all required materials such as awards, audio-visual aids or any sport-specific equipment needed during the competition.

12. Plan refreshments: Organize food and beverages for attendees, volunteers and judges. Consider dietary restrictions or preferences while planning the menu.

13. Coordinate with volunteers: Conduct briefing sessions with your team members to ensure that everyone is on the same page and fully aware of their respective roles leading up to and during the event.

14. Handle post-event requirements: After the dog show, manage follow-up tasks like announcing results, distributing awards and posting event highlights on your website or social media platforms.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
