How to Hide Your Online Status in WhatsApp

In today’s digital age, our privacy is becoming increasingly important. With the widespread use of messaging apps like WhatsApp, it’s essential to know how to control who can see your online status. Whether you want to keep your activity private or just simply avoid annoying messages, hiding your online status in WhatsApp is a valuable feature. Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Launch WhatsApp

Open WhatsApp from your phone’s home screen or app drawer.

Step 2: Access Your Settings

Tap the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to access your settings.

Step 3: Navigate to ‘Privacy’

In the settings menu, tap on “Privacy.”

Step 4: Change Your ‘Online Status’

Scroll down to the “Who can see my personal info” section and tap on “Last seen.”

Step 5: Select ‘Nobody’

You will now see three different options: “Everyone,” “My contacts,” and “Nobody.” Choose “Nobody” to hide your online status from all your WhatsApp contacts.

Step 6: Save Changes

Once you have selected “Nobody,” click on the “Save” button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

That’s it! Now, none of your contacts will be able to see when you are online in WhatsApp. You can still send and receive messages without revealing your online status to others.

Keep in mind that if you choose to hide your online status, you won’t be able to see other people’s online statuses as well. Also, if you’re using WhatsApp on a mobile device, you can’t hide your status while or after you’re actively using the app. But when you exit the app, your online status will not be visible to your contacts.

In conclusion, hiding your online status in WhatsApp is a simple process that can help you control your privacy and avoid unwanted messages. Just keep in mind that moderation is key: avoid using this feature too often, as it may raise suspicion in your social circle. Do what feels best based on your specific situation, and enjoy using WhatsApp with a sense of privacy and control over your online presence.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
