How to Get Capes in Minecraft

Minecraft capes are rare vanity items that can be worn by players in-game to show off or to signify an event or accomplishment. Unlike most items in Minecraft, capes are not readily available in the game and cannot be crafted or found during regular gameplay. Here’s how you can get your hands on these coveted cosmetics.

Purchase a Minecon Ticket: Historically, the surest way to receive a cape was to attend the official Minecraft convention, Minecon. Players who attended these events received a redeemable code for an exclusive cape. However, since the event has transitioned to livestreams, this method is not as common.

Special Events and Giveaways: Occasionally, Mojang may give out capes for participation in certain events, competitions, or randomly through giveaways. Keep an eye on official Minecraft social media accounts or news updates for any such opportunities.

Minecraft Migration: Mojang periodically provides capes as a reward for migrating a Mojang account to a Microsoft account. If Minecraft prompts you to migrate your account and offers a cape as an incentive, follow the instructions provided by the game to claim yours.

Third-Party Mods and Servers: You may encounter third-party mods or servers that allow players to equip custom capes. Be cautious with this method since it is not officially supported by Mojang, and using mods can sometimes risk your account security.

Java Edition Loyalty: In rare instances, Mojang rewards Java Edition players with a cape for their loyalty or for significant achievements within the Minecraft community. These are quite rare and often tied to specific criteria set by Mojang.

It’s important to note that not all capes are available to all players; some are exclusive or legacy items that new players cannot obtain. Additionally, exercise caution if you see offers online that claim you can buy a Minecraft cape — these might be scams. Always rely on official sources when striving to obtain such in-game items.
