If you’re new to creating flowcharts, or if you’re simply looking for a more efficient way to create them, you might be interested to learn about Excel’s free flowchart templates. With templates already designed and ready to go, you’ll save plenty of time and effort in the process.

What are flowcharts?

Before we dive into finding and using Excel’s flowchart templates, let’s cover what flowcharts are and why they’re useful. A flowchart is a visual representation of a process or system. Typically, flowcharts depict the steps in a process, decision points, and the order in which those steps should be taken. Flowcharts can be used to diagram anything from an assembly line in a factory to the steps involved in completing a project.

Why use a flowchart?

Flowcharts are invaluable for several reasons. For one, they help break down complex systems into their constituent parts, making it easier to understand how each component is contributing to the final result. Additionally, flowcharts can identify bottlenecks or weaknesses in a process, which can help you pinpoint areas for improvement. Finally, flowcharts can be used to create a standardized process that everyone on a team follows, which ensures consistency and reduces errors.

How to find Excel’s free flowchart templates

Excel has several free flowchart templates available, and they’re easy to find. Here’s how to get started:

1. Open Excel.

2. Click on “File” in the top left corner.

3. Click “New” in the left-hand menu.

4. Select “Flowchart” under “Available Templates.”

5. Browse through the available templates and select the one that best fits your needs.

Click “Create” to open the template in a new workbook.

How to use Excel’s free flowchart templates

Once you’ve selected a flowchart template, it’s time to customize it to fit your specific process. Here are some basic steps to follow:

1. Familiarize yourself with the template. Take a few minutes to look over the flowchart and get a sense of how it works.

2. Edit text and shapes. You can modify the text in each box by double-clicking on it and typing in new information. You can also add or delete boxes as needed.

3. Customize the design. You can change the shape, color, and formatting of your flowchart to match your preferences. For example, you might want to use different colors for different types of boxes, or add arrows to clarify the flow from one step to the next.

4.Save your flowchart. Click “Save” in the top left corner to save your new flowchart.

5. Share your flowchart. Once you’re happy with your flowchart, you can share it with others. You can export it to a PDF or image file, or you can simply share the Excel file itself.

Conclusion

Excel’s free flowchart templates are an excellent resource for anyone who needs to create flowcharts quickly and efficiently. With pre-designed templates and simple editing tools, you’ll be able to create a professional-looking flowchart in no time. The next time you need to diagram a process or system, give Excel’s free flowchart templates a try.
