How to calculate percent increase in salary

Calculating the percent increase in your salary can be a useful way to track financial growth and success over time. Whether you’ve received a promotion, moved to a new job, or just negotiated a raise, being aware of how your salary has changed can empower you to make informed decisions for your financial future. In this article, we’ll walk you through the simple steps on how to calculate the percent increase in your salary.

Step 1: Gather the Necessary Information

To calculate the percent increase in your salary, you’ll need two primary pieces of information:

– Your initial salary (the amount you were earning before any changes)

– Your new salary (the amount you will be earning after any changes)

It’s important to note that these figures should be compared using the same timeframe, such as an annual figure or a monthly figure. If your initial and new salaries are presented differently, convert them so they’re consistent for accurate comparison.

Step 2: Calculate the Difference

Subtract your initial salary from your new salary to find the difference between them. This will give you the amount of increase in absolute terms. For instance:
