Introduction:

Whether you’re shopping for clothes, electronics, or grabbing a meal at your favorite restaurant, discounts are always welcome. One of the most common discounts you may come across is a 30 percent off deal. But how exactly do you calculate 30 percent off? In this article, we’ll break down the process step by step, so you can easily determine the discounted price of any item.

Step 1: Convert the Percentage to Decimal Form

Before we start calculating the discount, we need to convert the 30 percent into decimal form. To do this, simply divide the percentage by 100. In this case:

30 / 100 = 0.3

Now, we have our decimal value (0.3), which we can use to calculate the discount.

Step 2: Multiply Original Price by Decimal Value

Next, take the original price of the item and multiply it by the decimal value. This will give you the amount of money that will be deducted as a discount. For example:

Original Price: $100

Decimal Value (Discount): 0.3

Discount Amount: $100 * 0.3 = $30

In this case, the discount amount is $30.

Step 3: Deduct Discount Amount from Original Price

Now that you have calculated the discount amount, simply subtract it from the original price to get the final price:

Final Price: Original Price – Discount Amount

$70 = $100 – $30

Congratulations! You have now successfully calculated that an item originally priced at $100 with a 30 percent discount will now cost $70 after applying the discount!

Conclusion:

Being able to quickly calculate discounts helps you make informed decisions when shopping and
saves you both time and money. The next time you come across a 30 percent off deal or any other percentage-based discount, follow these simple steps to determine the final price. Happy shopping!
