How to Build a Pen Gun: 12 Steps

A pen gun is a homemade, concealable weapon that can be easily constructed with a few basic tools and everyday items. While owning such a device may be illegal in some jurisdictions and carrying a concealed weapon is dangerous, knowing how to make one can help you understand its inner workings just for knowledge purposes. Here is a step-by-step guide on building a simple pen gun.

**Disclaimer**: This article is for educational purposes only. Building or using pen guns may be illegal in your area and can result in serious consequences. Do not attempt to construct or use an actual pen gun.

Step 1: Gather Materials

– A regular ballpoint pen with a removable cap (preferably metal)

– Small rubber bands

– A small nail

– A BB or small plastic pellet (for ammunition)

– Tape

Step 2: Disassemble the Pen

Remove the ink cartridge, spring, and tip from the pen. You should now have an empty pen casing.

Step 3: Prepare the Firing Mechanism

Take the small nail and tape it to one end of the rubber band so that it forms a small ramrod.

Step 4: Determine the Trigger Point

Find the point on the pen casing where the rubber band will be at maximum tension when pulled back with the nail.

Step 5: Attach Rubber Bands as Trigger Mechanism

Take several rubber bands, stack them together, and place them around the pen casing at your chosen trigger point. Use tape to secure them in place tightly.

Step 6: Form the Ramrod

Insert the nail into the front of the pen casing so that it rests against the rubber bands.

Step 7: Create a Stopper

Use more tape to construct a “stopper” at the rear end of the casing. This stopper will hold the spring-loaded ramrod in place when loading your ammunition.

Step 8: Attach the Ramrod to the Stopper

Tape the nail to the stopper, ensuring there is enough tension when pulled back.

Step 9: Load Ammunition

Place a BB or small plastic pellet into the front of the pen casing.

Step 10: Prepare to Fire

To fire your pen gun, simply pull back on the ramrod and release it, aiming in a safe direction. The rubber bands will cause it to shoot forward and propel your ammunition out of the pen casing. Remember, this is not a toy. Exercise caution.

Step 11: Reassemble Pen (Optional)

If you want to convert your pen gun back into a functional writing instrument, simply reverse these steps.

Step 12: Understand Local Laws and Safety Precautions

Before constructing or using any homemade weapon, understand the specific laws governing such devices in your jurisdiction. Building or using a pen gun without proper knowledge of the law can result in serious consequences.

Remember that constructing a pen gun is for educational purposes only. Using or carrying any kind of homemade weapon can be dangerous and may result in charges against you if caught by law enforcement. Always exercise caution and respect when handling improvised weapons.
