As online gaming continues to gain popularity across the globe, first-person shooter (FPS) games have become increasingly commonplace on the internet. An FPS game is a genre where players engage in virtual combat with firearms, utilizing first-person perspective. Traditionally, these games have only been accessible through downloaded software, but due to advancements in web technology, there are now several browser-based FPS games available online. The following games are must-plays for any gamer who loves FPS games.

1. Wolfenstein 3D: Released in 1992, Wolfenstein 3D is often considered the father of modern FPS gaming. The game is set in World War II, and players take on the role of William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, an American soldier who has been captured by the Nazis. The game’s simple graphics and groundbreaking gameplay are beloved by gamers and critics alike.

2. Quake Live: Developed by id Software, Quake Live is a first-person shooter game that is completely free to play. Players battle it out in an arena-style environment, using various weapons to eliminate their foes. Quake Live is known for its fast-paced gameplay, smooth graphics, and intense multiplayer action.

3. Battlefield Heroes: This cartoony online FPS game was released in 2009 by EA Digital Illusions CE. Players can choose from three character classes, each with unique abilities and weapons. Battlefield Heroes is free to play but monetizes through in-game purchases.

4. Red Crucible: Firestorm: The second installment of the Red Crucible series, Firestorm, places players in a modern combat environment, and they have the option to choose from multiple vehicles, weapons, and mission modes. The game’s great graphics and fast-paced action make it popular among FPS fans.

5. Contract Wars: A first-person shooter that takes place in a near-future dystopian world, Contract Wars offers a range of weapons and missions, including single-player campaigns and online multiplayer modes. The game’s multiplayer mode is highly competitive, with players using a combination of strategy and raw firepower to take down their opponents.
