If you’ve been looking to purchase a new TV, computer monitor or any display device, chances are you’ve come across the term 1080p. The term refers to the resolution and display quality of the device.

Simply put, 1080p refers to a display resolution of 1920 pixels width and 1080 pixels height. The “p” stands for progressive scan, meaning all of the lines of the image are scanned in sequence from top to bottom.

1080p is a High Definition (HD) display format and delivers a picture quality that is sharper and more detailed than standard definition formats. It provides more than twice the resolution of a 720p display, which has a resolution of 1280 pixels width and 720 pixels height.

A 1080p display is capable of displaying high-quality content such as Blu-ray discs or HD streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Such devices often come with an HDMI cable, which is capable of transmitting both high-quality audio and video signals.

When it comes to gaming, 1080p is the most popular resolution among gamers due to the fact that it’s not as demanding as higher resolutions like 2K or 4K. As a result, devices with 1080p displays are more affordable than those with higher resolutions.

In summary, 1080p is a display resolution that delivers high-quality and more detailed images than standard definition formats. It’s a popular resolution for displays since it provides excellent picture quality without the added expense that comes with higher resolutions.
