As a Mac user, you may have come across the dreaded error code 43. This error occurs when you try to copy or move a file to another location on your Mac, and you receive an error message saying that the operation cannot be completed because of an error code 43. It can be frustrating, but there are ways to fix the issue. In this article, we will discuss how to fix Mac error code 43.

1. Restart your Mac

As with many technology-related issues, a simple restart can do wonders. If you encounter error code 43, try restarting your Mac and see if that resolves the issue.

2. Check if the file is in use

If the file you are trying to copy or move is in use, you will get an error code 43. To check if the file is in use, you can try closing any applications that may be using the file. Alternatively, you can check to see if the file is locked by right-clicking the file and selecting “Get Info.” If the “Locked” checkbox is checked, uncheck it and try copying or moving the file again.

3. Use Terminal

Using Terminal is another way to fix error code 43. Here’s how:

– Open “Terminal” from “Applications” > “Utilities.”
– Type “sudo rm [file path]” (without the quotes) and hit enter. Replace [file path] with the path to the file you are trying to copy or move.
– Enter your Mac password when prompted and hit enter.
– Try copying or moving the file again.

Note: Be careful when using Terminal as it can delete files permanently.

4. Repair Disk Permissions

Error code 43 can also occur due to corrupt disk permissions. To fix this issue, follow the steps below:

– Open “Disk Utility” from “Applications” > “Utilities.”
– Select your Mac’s hard drive and click on “First Aid.”
– Click on “Repair Disk Permissions.”
– Wait for the process to complete and try copying or moving the file again.

5. Use Third-Party Software

If all else fails, you can use third-party software to fix error code 43. There are several software programs available, such as CleanMyMac and MacClean. These programs can help clean up your Mac and fix any errors that may be causing error code 43.

In conclusion, error code 43 can be frustrating, but it’s not the end of the world. Try the above solutions, and hopefully, you’ll be able to copy and move files on your Mac without any issues.
