This article discusses the benefits and drawbacks of homeschooling, as well as how technology can help with learning at home.

Homeschooling’s EdTech Trend

Various trends in learning through computers have been emerging for over a year. Trends like adaptive learning and the internet help a student’s academic success. They are one-of-a-kind, swift, and efficient to utilize. Aside from these, another growing trend is homeschooling.

The Grapes of upstate New York are one family that benefits from homeschooling. Kailey Grape, who began homeschooling her kids in the summer of 2020, enjoys it. She enjoys the comfort of staying at home and spending time with her family, as well as the flexibility that homeschooling provides. She claims that her children feel at ease learning at home. Homeschooling is a terrific option for the Grapes and many others. Let’s have a look at why this is so.

The Benefits of Homeschooling

  1. Parents Have More Influence Over Their Child’s Education

The curriculum is chosen and taught by the parent. They choose subjects that they believe are best for their child to know.

  1. Family Cohesion

Aside from evenings and weekends, the family spends meaningful time together throughout the day. Kailey observes development in her young kid as a result of interactions with her two education children.

  1. Adaptability

When a parent selects, a youngster completes schoolwork. The parent can organize activities to complement their child’s learning. Kailey has a homeschool learning program in place for the Grape family, and the kids participate in sports a couple of times per week.

  1. Personalized Education

Youngster receives the attention that they might not receive in a huge school. The parent teaches according to their child’s individual needs.

  1. The Emphasis Is on Learning

A parent avoids concerns in the classroom such as harassment and other social issues with classmates.

However, homeschooling has the disadvantage of depending on pen and paper. This is a disadvantage that educational technology (EdTech) businesses are aware of and attempting to overcome to facilitate learning at home. Here are a few examples of these businesses:

Outschool

  •  Outschool provides real-time online classes. The classes are simple to complete from the convenience of your own home. The number of classes provided cater to the learner’s various interests and are appropriate for youngsters as young as three years old.

Primer

  •  Primer makes advantage of live chat rooms. In their own homes, youngsters can have a school environment experience. They engage with other youngsters their same age. They can learn collaboratively, socialize, and work in groups, just like in a classroom.

Age of Learning

  •  The era of Learning offers several education materials with EdTech which have won praise and are ideal for young children. ABCmouse, My Math Academy, and My Reading Academy are a few applications that have helped many early learners thrive.

Homer

  •  Homer allows early year children to acquire abilities while learning about various subjects. Through various reading and arithmetic exercises, students develop social and emotional abilities as well as creativity.

Companies like this assist in overcoming the drawbacks of homeschooling children. One disadvantage of homeschooling is the absence of socializing a child receives from classmates. Primer, a business, offers a specialized learning opportunity called Pursuit, which engages youngsters in social interaction. Each “Pursuit” is six weeks long. Children participate in Pursuit by working together to overcome many types of problems. Outschool’s live instruction is set up in small groups, which allows for personalized learning and allows learners to make new acquaintances while studying.

Another downside of home education is the anxiety that parents experience when their child struggles to learn. Through their ABCmouse program, the firm Age of Education helps reduce tension. According to research, this approach accelerates young children’s learning and assists them in developing numeracy and early reading skills. ABCmouse includes an evaluation center for mom and dad, which is an excellent resource for determining what their kid understands and where they need to improve. Homer is a user-friendly program that parents adore. Parents appreciate that it is interesting for their child and that the activities fit their child’s learning needs.

Conclusion

As we can see, guardians who choose to homeschool their children have numerous options for doing so using technology. Some of these companies’ apps provide a unique and entertaining homeschooling experience. Digital solutions in schooling are excellent for enhancing children’s homeschooling. They contribute to learners’ academic success, which is the prime purpose of homeschooling parents.
