Brainstorming is a creative activity that is used to generate potential solutions to an issue. Judgment is postponed in order to generate a large list of ideas, some of which are more innovative or courageous than those initially considered. You most likely already have a definition of brainstorming that is similar to mine. However, I’m sure you didn’t realize there are various different sorts of brainstorming.

No, seriously. In this article, we will go through each one briefly.

Brainstorming in reverse

A creative problem-solving strategy in which the problem is turned around and viewed from a new perspective to generate new and alternative answers.

66 Phillips Brainstorming

A problem-solving technique in which a group of six people brainstorms for six minutes before a spokesman from each group offers either the best or all ideas to the larger group.

Brainwriting

A problem-solving strategy in which individuals brainstorm and document their ideas independently before sharing them with a group to further push their thoughts.

Stop-and-Go Brainstorming

A problem-solving strategy in which a group alternates between brainstorming solutions without evaluation for ten minutes and evaluating them for a brief period of time. The group alternates between brainstorming and evaluating ideas.

What did we overlook? Can you think of any more kinds of brainstorming?

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
