Elon Musk called OpenAI ‘evil’ for telling investors not to fund his company and other rivals

Elon Musk, the tech billionaire known for his outspoken nature, has lashed out at OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research company he co-founded, accusing it of being “evil” for advising investors against funding his companies and other rivals.
The rift between Musk and OpenAI has been simmering for some time, with Musk stepping down from the board in 2018 due to potential conflicts of interest. However, this latest outburst comes after reports surfaced that OpenAI is actively discouraging investors from pouring money into Musk’s ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX.
Musk, in a series of tweets, called OpenAI’s actions “unacceptable” and expressed his belief that the organization has strayed from its original mission of promoting safe and beneficial AI. He further accused OpenAI of “being controlled by Microsoft,” which has invested heavily in the organization.
“They’re effectively a subsidiary of Microsoft,” Musk tweeted. “Their mission has become maximizing profits for Microsoft, rather than advancing AI for the benefit of humanity.”
OpenAI has yet to respond directly to Musk’s accusations. However, sources within the organization suggest that the decision to advise investors against funding competing companies stems from a desire to protect its own investments and avoid conflicts of interest.
Musk’s outspoken criticism of OpenAI highlights the ongoing tension surrounding AI development and the growing influence of large tech companies in this field. The future of AI remains uncertain, and the debate over its potential benefits and risks is only likely to intensify as technology continues to advance.
