Introduction

Skype is an essential communication tool for millions of people worldwide. It offers various features, such as voice calls, video calls, and text messaging. One of the features users often need is the ability to save a text chat. This article will guide you through the process of saving a Skype text chat on different devices and platforms.

How to Save a Text Chat on Skype for Desktop (Windows and Mac)

1. Launch Skype and sign in to your account.

2. Select the contact whose chat history you want to save.

3. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top right corner of the chat window.

4. From the dropdown menu, click “Export chat history.”

5. In the dialog box that appears, choose the date range for which you want to save the chat history.

6. Click “Export” and select where you would like the exported file to be saved. The file will be saved as a .CSV text file.

How to Save a Text Chat on Skype for Mobile (Android and iOS)

Unfortunately, there is no built-in option to export and save your chats directly from the mobile app. However, you can use email or another third-party app to forward your messages.

1. Open Skype on your mobile device and sign in to your account.

2. Select the conversation you want to save.

3. Long press on one of the messages in that conversation.

4. Tap on “More” when it appears after selecting the message.

5. Using this option, you can now select multiple messages if needed.

6. Click on the “Forward” icon at the bottom of the app screen.

7. Enter an email address or select an app where you’d like to forward the messages.

8. Press “Send” or any similarly labeled button.

Save Your Chats Using Third-Party Apps

There are several third-party applications available for backing up your Skype chat history. Two popular options are Skyperious and SkypeLogView. These programs help you export your chat history and save it on your computer in various formats such as HTML, CSV, or TXT.

Conclusion

Saving a Skype text chat may not be a native option on all platforms, but using the aforementioned methods, you can easily save your important chat messages for later use. Always remember to backup your valuable conversations to prevent data loss or unexpected incidents.
