10.Dexter Morgan vs. James Doakes (‘Dexter’)

The cat-and-mouse game between blood spatter expert/serial killer Dexter and his suspicious colleague Doakes was mesmerizing to watch, keeping audiences on edge as Doakes came closer to uncovering the truth about Dexter’s dark passenger.

9.Rick Grimes vs. Negan (‘The Walking Dead’)

The battle of wills between Rick and Negan was underscored by brutality, wit, and a struggle for power within a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by zombies, making their encounters some of the series’ most electrifying moments.

8.Buffy Summers vs. Spike (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’)

The tumultuous relationship between Slayer Buffy and vampire Spike evolved from antagonism to a complex romance, showcasing depth in both characters that expanded beyond simple heroics and villainy.

7.Fox Mulder vs. The Smoking Man (‘The X-Files’)

The relentless pursuit of truth by Mulder contrasts starkly with the enigmatic and manipulative Smoking Man, embodying the overarching theme of conspiracy that made ‘The X-Files’ a hit.

6.Sherlock Holmes vs. Jim Moriarty (‘Sherlock’)

A classic duo reimagined for modern television, the intellectual chess match between Sherlock and his arch-nemesis Moriarty has been updated with a thrilling intensity that honors their literary origins.

5.Jack Bauer vs. Nina Myers (’24’)

In ’24’, Jack Bauer’s sense of betrayal when he learns Nina Myers is a mole adds a personal dimension to his quest to thwart terror attacks, making every encounter between them emotionally charged.

4.Michael Scofield vs. Alexander Mahone (‘Prison Break’)

The intricate battle of wits between genius Michael Scofield attempting prison breaks and FBI Agent Mahone’s determined pursuit provided nail-biting tension throughout the series.

3.Jon Snow vs. Ramsay Bolton (‘Game of Thrones’)

The stark contrast in values between honorable Jon Snow and sadistic Ramsay Bolton culminates in one of ‘Game of Thrones’’ most harrowing battles and cements them as one of TV’s greatest hero/villain duos.

2.Walter White vs. Gustavo Fring (‘Breaking Bad’)

One of television’s most intense cat-and-mouse games was played out on ‘Breaking Bad’ as mild-mannered teacher turned meth kingpin Walter White went head-to-head with drug lord Gus Fring in a deadly battle of intellects.
