How to Apply Stick Foundation: 10 Steps

Applying stick foundation can seem daunting, especially if you’re new to makeup. However, once you’ve mastered the technique, it’s a great way to achieve flawless coverage with minimal mess and fuss. Follow these ten steps for a perfect application!

Step 1: Cleanse and moisturize your skin

Before applying any makeup, it’s essential to begin with clean skin. Remove any dirt or oil using a gentle cleanser, and then follow up with a lightweight moisturizer.

Step 2: Prime the skin

To ensure a smooth canvas for your stick foundation, apply a primer suited to your skin type. This step will help minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines while helping your foundation glide on more easily.

Step 3: Choose the right shade

Select a stick foundation that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. Test shades on your jawline rather than the back of your hand to ensure the best match.

Step 4: Apply the stick directly to your face

Start by drawing lines across your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. The key here is not to go overboard – you can always build more coverage as needed.

Step 5: Blend it out

Using either a damp beauty sponge or a foundation brush, gently blend the stick foundation into your skin using stippling motions. Work from the center of your face, outwards for even coverage.

Step 6: Build up coverage if necessary

If you need additional coverage in certain areas, reapply the stick foundation and blend again until you reach the desired level of coverage.

Step 7: Set everything in place

Use a translucent setting powder and a fluffy brush to lightly dust over your entire face. This will help set your foundation while providing a smooth finish.

Step 8: Contour (optional)

If you’d like to add some dimension back into your face after applying the foundation, use a stick contour product slightly darker than your skin tone. Apply this under your cheekbones, jawline, or along your nose and blend well using a brush or sponge.

Step 9: Apply blush (optional)

To add a healthy flush to your cheeks, use a cream or powder blush in your preferred shade. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks and blend lightly towards your temples.

Step 10: Finish the look

Complete your makeup routine with eye, lip, and brow products as desired. Once everything is applied, take one final glance in the mirror and admire your perfected complexion!

With these ten steps, you can achieve a flawless base using stick foundation – perfect for anyone on-the-go or looking for an easy-to-use makeup option.
