Introduction:

Instagram is a popular social media platform used for sharing photos, videos, and engaging with friends. However, there might come a time when you want to log out of your account for various reasons – security, privacy, or to simply switch to another account. This easy guide will walk you through 12 simple steps on how to log out of Instagram.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app

Locate and tap the Instagram icon on your device to open the application.

Step 2: Go to your Profile page

Once the application is open, tap on the profile icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen to navigate to your profile page.

Step 3: Access the settings menu

On your profile page, find and tap the three horizontal lines (≡) in the top right corner. This will bring up a side menu.

Step 4: Tap on settings

From the side menu, locate and tap on “Settings.” The settings icon is shaped like a gearwheel and is situated at the bottom part of the menu.

Step 5: Scroll down

Scroll down through your settings options until you find “Log out.”

Step 6: Tap on “Log out”

Initiate the log out process by tapping on “Log out.”

Step 7: Confirm log out

A pop-up will appear asking if you are sure you want to log out of your account. Tap “Log Out” again in this pop-up dialog box to proceed.

Step 8: Log out of linked accounts (optional)

If you have linked your Facebook or any other accounts with Instagram, click “Log Out” next to each linked account that you want to disconnect from your Instagram login session at this time.

Step 9: Returning to login screen

After confirming or clearing all linked accounts, you’ll be redirected back to Instagram’s main login screen.

Step 10: Verify you are logged out

Check that your account name is no longer visible at the bottom of the login screen to ensure you have successfully logged out.

Step 11: Close the app (optional)

For added security, close the Instagram app by swiping it away from your device’s app switcher or recent apps list.

Step 12: Clear your browsing data (optional)

If you’re using Instagram on a web browser, it’s recommended to clear your browsing data, cookies, and cache to ensure complete log out and protect your information.

Conclusion:

Logging out of Instagram is an easy process that can be accomplished in just a few steps. By following this guide, you can confidently secure your account when needed and conveniently switch between multiple accounts as necessary.
