Squishies are fun, colorful, and soft toys that bring endless amusement and stress relief. Making your own squishies can be a creative and enjoyable project. In this article, we’ll explore 10 steps to make the perfect squishy at home.

1. Gather your materials: To make a squishy, you’ll need foam (memory foam is perfect), fabric paint or puffy paint, scissors, a permanent marker, toothpicks, and a plastic bag.

2. Cut the foam: Using your scissors, cut the memory foam into the desired shape of your squishy. It’s a good idea to draw an outline on the foam first with a permanent marker.

3. Finetune the shape: After cutting out your basic shape, trim any rough edges or unwanted parts from your foam to finalize the form of your squishy toy.

4. Prepare for painting: Place your foam shape inside the plastic bag to avoid getting paint everywhere during the next step.

5. Mix your colors: If you’re using fabric paint, mix it with a small amount of water to get it to the right consistency for spreading evenly on your squishy. Puffy paint can be used directly from its container.

6. Apply base color: Choose a base color for your squishy and begin applying it all over the foam using toothpicks or similar tools for detail work. Let the paint dry for at least 4 hours or according to the instructions on its package.

7. Add details and accents: Once your base color is completely dry, use additional colors and toothpicks to create details and designs like eyes, mouths, patterns, and accessories.

8. Let the paint dry completely: Allow your squishy to dry for 24 hours after adding all details and designs. This will ensure that the paint is fully set and won’t smudge or fade.

9. Seal the paint: After your squishy is fully dry, apply a thin layer of clear sealant over the paint to protect it from wear and tear. Allow the sealant to dry for another 24 hours.

10. Enjoy your squishy: After all before-mentioned steps are completed and everything is dry, your homemade squishy is ready for you to enjoy! Give it a good squeeze and share your creation with friends and family.

Now that you know how to make your own squishies, you can create endless shapes, colors, and designs for yourself or as unique gifts for others. Have fun expressing your creativity and experiencing the therapeutic benefits of a homemade squishy!
