As you create documents in Microsoft Word, you may want to enhance the appearance of your text to make it more visually appealing. One useful formatting technique is creating an outline text. This style not only adds depth and character to your words but also makes them stand out on the page. In this article, we will walk you through the steps to create outline text in Word.

Step 1: Open your Microsoft Word document

Launch Microsoft Word and open your desired document, or create a new one if you wish to start from scratch.

Step 2: Select the text

Highlight the text you want to apply the outline effect to by clicking and dragging over it with your cursor.

Step 3: Access the Font dialog box

Navigate to the “Home” tab at the top of the screen. In the “Font” group, click on the small diagonal arrow at the bottom-right corner of that group. This will open up a Font dialog box.

Alternatively, you can use the shortcut keys “Ctrl + D” to bring up the same dialog box.

Step 4: Apply outline effect

In the Font dialog box, go to the “Text Effects” tab. If you are using Word versions 2007 or later, there will be a section titled “Outline.” Click on the drop-down menu beside “Color” and choose your preferred outline color from the palette. You can also adjust width by selecting a value from the “Width” drop-down menu.

If you cannot see an “Outline” section, look for an “Effects” section with a checkbox titled “Outline.” Check that box, and then click on “Customize” next to it (if available) to open a separate window where you can choose your outline color and width.

Step 5: Preview & confirm

Before clicking “OK,” preview how your outlined text will look in the document by checking the “Preview” pane in the Font dialog box. If you’re happy with the appearance, click “OK” to apply the outline effect to your text.

Step 6: Save your document

To ensure you don’t lose your hard work, remember to save your document after applying the outline effect to your text.

And that is it! You now have beautiful outlined text in your Word document. Follow these simple steps whenever you want to apply the outline effect and give your words a more striking and attractive appeal.
