Corn on the cob is a delicious and versatile summer staple that can be enjoyed in various forms. Cooking corn in the oven is a simple and convenient method that yields mouth-watering results. In this article, we’ll explore four different ways to cook corn on the cob in the oven, giving you even more options for enjoying this delightful treat.

1. Roasted Corn on the Cob with Husks

One of the easiest ways to cook corn on the cob in the oven is to leave the husks intact. Roasting corn in its husk helps retain its moisture, resulting in tender kernels bursting with natural sweetness. To cook corn this way, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Place the untrimmed corn directly onto the middle oven rack and bake for about 30-35 minutes, turning occasionally. Once cooked, allow it to cool slightly before peeling back the husk and removing the silk. Serve with your choice of butter or seasoning.

2. Oven-Steamed Corn on the Cob

Another method to cook corn on the cob in the oven is by steaming it using aluminum foil to trap steam and keep it moist. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C) and remove all silk from each ear of corn. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Spread a generous layer of butter or your preferred seasoning onto each ear, then wrap individually in aluminum foil, sealing tightly. Place wrapped corn directly onto your middle oven rack and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping once during cooking time. Remove from oven, unwrap carefully to avoid steam burns, and serve immediately.

3. Oven-Broiled Corn on the Cob

For a quick-cooking method that adds a touch of smokiness, try broiling your corn on the cob in your oven’s broiler setting. Remove husks and silk from the corn and rinse it thoroughly. Pat dry and apply a good layer of butter or oil to each ear. Set your oven to a high broil and position an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Arrange your corn on a foil-lined, rimmed baking sheet and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until the kernels are lightly charred. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

4. Oven-Baked Corn on the Cob in a Baking Dish

To ensure even cooking while keeping your oven clean, cooking corn on the cob in a covered baking dish is an excellent option. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Remove husks and silk, then rinse and dry each ear of corn before applying butter or your choice of seasoning. Arrange ears of corn in a single layer in a shallow baking dish, then cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until tender, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove from oven, let cool briefly, and serve.

In conclusion, cooking corn on the cob in the oven offers various techniques to suit different preferences. Whether you choose to roast it in its natural husk or try broiling for that smoky flavor, there’s no shortage of options for enjoying this delicious summer favorite.
