Reddit is one of the most popular platforms for people to share and discuss content. By following these 11 steps, you can become a pro Reddit user and get the most out of your experience on the platform.

1. Sign Up for an Account

To use Reddit, you need to sign up for a free account. Go to www.reddit.com and click “Sign Up” at the top-right corner of the page. Provide a username, password, and email address to create your account.

2. Customize Your Subscriptions

Reddit consists of various categories called “subreddits.” Initially, you’ll be subscribed to a default set of popular subreddits. Adjust your subreddit subscriptions by clicking on “Edit” next to “Home” in the top-left corner and searching for subreddits that interest you.

3. Participate in Subreddits

Find subreddits related to your interests and start engaging with the community through comments or by upvoting interesting content. Make sure to read and understand the rules of each subreddit before participating.

4. Submit Content

Share links, images, videos, or text posts in relevant subreddits by clicking on “Create Post” in any subreddit you’re subscribed to. Be sure that your submission follows the community guidelines and rules of that particular subreddit.

5. Upvote and Downvote Content

Upvote posts or comments that are interesting, thought-provoking, or helpful, while downvoting content that is irrelevant or does not contribute to the discussion.

6. Engage in Conversations

Look for opportunities to add value to discussions through insightful comments or by asking thoughtful questions. Always be respectful when engaging with other users.

7. Track Your Activity

Keep track of your activity, such as comments, posts, upvotes, and downvotes through your profile page by clicking on your username in the top-right corner.

8. Use Reddit on Mobile

Download the Reddit app for your smartphone or tablet to access content and contribute to discussions while on the go.

9. Discover New Subreddits

Explore new subreddits by using the search function or by visiting r/popular and r/all for trending posts across all of Reddit. You might discover new interests and communities that appeal to you.

10. Install Browser Extensions

Consider installing browser extensions like RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) that add useful features, such as keyboard shortcuts and improved navigation to enhance your experience on Reddit.

11. Be Mindful of Internet Etiquette

Remember that you are interacting with real people on Reddit, so treat others with respect and follow the rules of each subreddit. Keep in mind traditions like “Reddiquette ” – a set of unofficial guidelines that outline proper behavior on the site.

By following these 11 steps, you’ll be well-prepared to make the most of your time on Reddit, discover new content, and contribute to a vast online community.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
