3 Ways to Decorate Around a TV

Introduction

A TV is often the focal point of a living room or entertainment space, but it doesn’t have to be an eyesore. With a little creativity and attention to detail, you can seamlessly integrate your television into your room’s design. Here are three ways to decorate around a TV and make it an attractive, functional feature in your home.

1. Create a Gallery Wall

One way to make your TV blend in with your room’s décor is to create a gallery wall. This can be done by hanging an assortment of artwork, framed pictures, and other decorative elements around the TV. When designing your gallery wall, consider the following tips:

– Choose pieces that complement the colors and style of your room.

– Mix up different sizes, shapes, and mediums of art for visual interest.

– Aim for balance by arranging smaller pieces around larger ones.

– Ensure that the center of the gallery wall sits at eye level.

By creating a cohesive gallery wall design, you’ll not only draw attention away from the TV but also add visual interest and personality to your room.

2. Use Shelving Units

Incorporating shelving units around your TV can help create a stylish, cohesive look while providing ample storage and display space for decorative items and entertainment systems. Here are some shelving options to consider:

– Built-in shelves: Installing custom-built shelves on either side of your TV creates an integrated look and allows you to tailor the storage to your needs.

– Freestanding units: For added flexibility, consider using freestanding bookcases or modular shelves to build a unique arrangement around your television.

– Floating shelves: To add depth and dimension without taking up valuable floor space, floating shelves can be installed above or on either side of the TV.

When arranging décor on the shelves, use a mix of books, plants, framed photos, and sculptures to create varied, eye-catching displays.

3. Opt for Custom Cabinetry

A more permanent solution to decorating around your TV is investing in custom cabinetry. This not only provides plenty of storage and display space but can also conceal electronic components and cords for a clean, uncluttered look. Options include:

– Television alcove: Build a recessed niche into the wall to house your TV and accompanying devices, creating a flush appearance with surrounding cabinetry.

– Entertainment center: Design a self-contained unit featuring shelving, cabinets, and drawers tailored to your specific needs that frames the television.

– Hide-away features: If you want the television to entirely disappear when not in use, incorporate sliding doors or a motorized lift into your cabinetry designs.

Consult with a professional to explore your options and design a custom solution tailored to your space and décor preferences.

Conclusion

Decorating around your TV doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By using one or a combination of these methods — creating a gallery wall, incorporating shelving units, or opting for custom cabinetry — you can turn the once-prominent focal point into an attractive element of your room’s overall design. In doing so, you will enhance both form and function for an inviting, stylish space.
