1. Gather your ingredients: fresh or frozen lobster tails, salt, water, and optional seasonings like lemon and butter.

2. Thaw the lobster tails if they are frozen. Place them in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours or in a sealed plastic bag in cold water for about one hour.

3. Fill a large pot with water, enough to cover the lobster tails completely when submerged.

4. Add salt to the pot to mimic the natural ocean environment. A general rule of thumb is one tablespoon of salt per quart of water.

5. Bring the pot of saltwater to a rolling boil over high heat.

6. While waiting for the water to boil, prepare your lobster tails by rinsing them under cold water, removing any leftover shell fragments or debris.

7. Use kitchen shears to cut down the back of each lobster tail shell for easier access to the meat once cooked.

8. Optionally, remove the vein from each tail by gently pulling it out after cutting or leaving it intact if preferred.

9. Once the water is boiling, place your prepared lobster tails into the pot using tongs, ensuring they are fully submerged.

10. Adjust heat as necessary to maintain a gentle boil and avoid foamy overflow.

11. Cook the lobster tails for approximately 1 minute per ounce of weight (e.g., a 5-ounce tail would require 5 minutes of boiling time).

12. Keep an eye on the color of the lobster shells; they should turn bright red when fully cooked.

13. Use tongs to remove cooked lobster tails from boiling water and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess moisture and cool slightly.

14. Prepare your optional seasonings like melted butter and lemon wedges while allowing the lobster tails to cool briefly.

15. Serve your boiled lobster tails alongside any chosen seasonings and enjoy your delicious seafood dish!

Following these 15 steps, you can effortlessly boil lobster tails and impress your guests with a showstopping, flavorful culinary creation. With practice, you’ll be able to master this cooking technique, making every meal truly unforgettable.
