3 Ways to Kick Down a Door

In some situations, you may find yourself needing to gain entry through a locked door, whether it’s because you forgot your keys, need to help someone in distress, or any other emergency. Kicking down a door can be an effective and efficient method to gain entry if done correctly. Here are three ways to kick down a door that you may find useful in certain situations.

1. The Front Kick

The front kick is performed while standing directly facing the door, and aims at delivering maximum force with the least risk of injury. To execute this kick:

– Position yourself about an arm’s length away from the door.

– Keep your dominant leg slightly behind for balance and support.

– Generate power by pushing off the ground with your rear leg.

– Drive your dominant foot forward, aiming for just below the door handle where the lock is located.

– Keep your hands up in front of you as a guard to protect yourself from any debris or possible threats.

2. The Sidekick

The sidekick can be more powerful than the front kick, but it requires more precision and control. To execute this technique:

– Stand at a slight angle to the door, keeping your hips square to the target.

– Shift your weight onto your rear foot while bending your knee on the kicking foot.

– Launch your kicking leg towards the door, aiming the outer edge of your foot slightly below the lock.

– Use your hips to rotate as you strike, and don’t forget to maintain balance with your supporting leg.

3. The Flying Kick

The flying kick is a high-risk, high-reward maneuver that requires total commitment and excellent timing. This kick can generate significant force but also leaves you vulnerable if not executed correctly. Proceed with caution when using this method:

– Stand a few feet away from the door and get into a running start position.

– Take several swift steps towards the door while gradually increasing your speed.

– When nearing the door, drive off with your rear leg and jump into the air.

– While airborne, tuck your knees to your chest, and extend your dominant foot forward to strike the door below the lock.

– Be prepared to land in a balanced position should you breach the door successfully.

While these kicks can be helpful in certain situations, it’s essential to remember that they must be used with caution. Damage to property or injury may result from attempting these techniques without proper training. Always consider other non-destructive methods of entry before resorting to kicking down a door. If you find yourself in an emergency situation that requires forced entry, contacting law enforcement or first responders is always the best course of action.
