Every driver wants to be safe on the road and improve their driving skills. In this article, we will share twelve effective ways to become a better driver and ensure the safety of yourself and others.

1. Stay focused: Always pay full attention to the road, eliminating any distractions such as cell phones, food, or loud music.

2. Follow traffic rules: Adhere to all traffic signs, signals, and speed limits. These rules exist for everyone’s safety.

3. Practice defensive driving: Anticipate the actions of other drivers and be prepared for unexpected situations. This reduces the likelihood of accidents.

4. Adjust your mirrors: Properly adjust your side and rear-view mirrors so you have complete visibility around your vehicle. This helps eliminate blind spots.

5. Maintain a safe following distance: Keep a reasonable distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you to have ample time to react in case they suddenly brake or slow down.

6. Use turn signals: Communicate your intentions to other drivers by using turn signals when changing lanes or making turns. This reduces confusion and avoids accidents.

7. Be courteous: Respect other drivers by giving them space, allowing them to merge, or waiting for pedestrians at crosswalks.

8. Drive according to road conditions: Adjust your speed and driving habits based on weather conditions, such as rain, snow, fog, or icy roads.

9. Keep your vehicle well-maintained: Regularly inspect and maintain your vehicle’s brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels to reduce the chances of breakdowns while driving.

10. Take breaks during long drives: Avoid driving while fatigued by scheduling regular breaks during long trips.

11. Employ stress-reducing techniques: Manage stress before getting behind the wheel by engaging in relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises or listening to calming music.

12. Enhance your skills through continuous learning: Attend driver’s education courses, practice new driving techniques, and stay updated on the latest traffic laws to keep improving your driving abilities.

By following these twelve tips, you will not only become a better driver but also ensure safer roads for everyone. Happy driving!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
