As high school comes to an end and graduates prepare for the next chapter of their lives, it’s important to show our support and appreciation for their hard work. Here are 17 unique gift ideas that any high school graduate will truly cherish.

1. Personalized Journal or Notebook: Encourage grads to write down their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations with a customized journal featuring their name or initials.

2. Money towards a Gap Year Experience: Contribute funds for that once-in-a-lifetime gap year trip they’ve always dreamed of, whether it’s backpacking through Europe or volunteering in Africa.

3. College Supplies Gift Basket: Support them as they transition into college life with a basket full of essential items like a shower caddy, dorm organization tools, and fresh bed linens.

4. Inspirational Books: Help them stay motivated with books like “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, and “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero.

5. Cooking Classes or Cookbook: Give them the gift of learning how to cook healthy meals on a budget as they leave home for the first time.

6. Amazon Prime or Netflix Subscription: Provide entertainment and convenience perks with a subscription service they can use during downtime to unwind from daily demands.

7. Electronics Care Package: Supply them with a phone charger, portable power bank, laptop case, and other tech necessities to keep their devices in top shape.

8. Fitness Membership or Class Pack: Encourage healthy habits with a gym membership or class pack at a yoga studio near their college in order for them to maintain physical fitness in hectic times.

9. Coffee Maker & Coffee Beans: Make mornings easier for caffeine-loving grads with a new coffee maker and some quality beans.

10. Messenger Bag or Backpack: Surprise them with a well-made bag to tote their study materials around in style.

11. Portable Hammock: Enhance outdoor college relaxation experiences with a comfortable and easy-to-set-up hammock.

12. Language Learning Software/App Subscription: Support them as they develop language skills with easy-to-use programs like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone.

13. Planner or Calendar: Keep them organized as they adapt to adult responsibilities with a quality planner or wall calendar.

14. Experiences & Gift Cards: Treat the grad to a fun night out with friends by giving them gift cards for local restaurants, movie theaters, or activities in their college town.

15. Interview Preparation Book or Workshop: Help grads nail their first job interviews by enrolling them in workshops or giving them a comprehensive interview preparation book/Resources like Knock ’em Dead by Martin Yate.

16. Personal Safety Device: Provide peace of mind as grads transition to new environments by gifting personal safety devices like pepper spray or a personal alarm keychain.

17. A Handwritten Letter of Encouragement: Sometimes, the most meaningful gift is simply your heartfelt words of support and appreciation for their achievements.

In conclusion, take the time to choose a thoughtful gift that represents your high school graduate’s interests and needs as they embark on their next journey. Remember, it’s not about the cost or size of the gift but rather the thought and care you put into selecting it that truly matters. Happy gifting!

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
