7 of the Best Quick Tidying Tips We’ve Seen This Year

Keeping your living space tidy not only improves its appearance but also helps you feel more at ease and productive. Here are seven of the most efficient and innovative tidying tips that have gained popularity this year, helping you maintain an orderly home with minimal effort.

1. The Five-Minute “Blitz Clean”:

Set a timer for five minutes and tackle a specific area of your home as quickly as you can. Whether it’s clearing off a countertop, organizing a drawer, or folding laundry, a concentrated effort can make a sizeable dent in your cleaning tasks without feeling overwhelming.

2. One-In-One-Out Rule:

To keep clutter at bay, adopt the “one-in-one-out” policy. For every new item you bring into your home, ensure that one item is donated, recycled, or thrown away. This habit keeps the amount of stuff in your home stable and prevents accumulation.

3. Use Transparent Storage:

Clear bins and containers allow you to see exactly what’s inside without needing to rummage through them. This encourages keeping things tidy since it’s easier to spot where everything should go and notice when things are out of place.

4. Designated Drop Zones:

Assign specific spots in your house for commonly used items such as keys, wallets, and phones. By having these designated drop zones, you’ll reduce clutter on surfaces and spend less time searching for misplaced items.

5. Multitask Mindfully:

Combine tidying up with regular activities. While you’re on the phone, straighten up your workspace. As you cook, clean the kitchen surfaces or organize the pantry. These small acts of cleaning while doing other tasks add up to a considerably neater space.

6. Vertical Space Utilization:

Maximize your space by using walls for storage – mount shelves or hooks to keep floors and countertops clear. Vertical storage solutions can aesthetically enhance your rooms while also promoting organization.

7. The “One Touch” Rule:

When handling items, strive to touch them only once before putting them back in their rightful place. For instance, when you come home with groceries, put them away immediately rather than leaving them on the counter for later.

By incorporating these quick tidying tips into your daily routine, maintaining a clean and orderly environment becomes much simpler and more manageable. Decluttering doesn’t have to be daunting; with these strategies, you can keep your space serene without dedicating hours to cleaning.
