A washerless faucet is a modern and convenient alternative to traditional faucets with washers. Although they generally have a longer lifespan, washerless faucets can still face issues and require repairs. In this article, we will discuss four ways to repair a washerless faucet.

1. Fixing a Leaky Faucet

A common issue with washerless faucets is leaking, which can be caused by damaged seals or valves. To fix this, follow these steps:

– Turn off the water supply to the faucet.

– Remove the faucet handle by loosening the screw that holds it in place.

– Unscrew and disassemble the valve assembly.

– Inspect the seals and valves for damage, such as cracks or wear. Replace any damaged parts.

– Reassemble the valve assembly and reinstall the handle.

– Turn the water supply back on to test if leaks persist.

2. Repairing a Stuck Handle

A stuck handle may result from mineral deposits or corrosion buildup. To resolve this issue:

– Turn off the water supply to the faucet.

– Remove the faucet handle by loosening the screw that holds it in place.

– Use a solution of vinegar and water or a commercial lime scale remover to soak and clean any buildup on the handle and its components.

– After cleaning, lubricate all moving parts with plumber’s grease or silicone lubricant.

– Reassemble and reinstall the handle.

– Restore water supply and check if the issue is resolved.

3. Addressing Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure is another potential problem with washerless faucets. Here’s how you can repair it:

– Turn off the water supply to the faucet.

– Unscrew the aerator from the faucet spout and clean its components with a vinegar solution or commercial cleaning product.

– Examine all seals and valves for damage or wear, making replacements as needed.

– Reassemble the aerator and attach it back to the faucet spout.

– Turn the water supply back on and test the water pressure.

4. Correcting Temperature Control Issues

Temperature control issues are a less common problem but can still happen. To correct this:

– Turn off the water supply to the faucet.

– Remove the faucet handle and disassemble the valve assembly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

– Inspect the temperature control components for any damage or misalignments, making necessary adjustments or replacements.

– Reassemble the valve assembly and replace the handle.

– Restore water supply and check for proper temperature control.

In conclusion, maintaining your washerless faucet is crucial for its longevity and performance. By following these four repair methods, you can tackle most issues that may arise with your faucet, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
