4 Ways to Decorate Candles

Introduction:

Candles are a versatile and beautiful way to add warmth, cosiness, and ambience to your home. Decorating candles is a creative and fun activity, allowing you to express your personal taste while creating a stylish focal point or accent piece. In this article, we will explore four different ways to decorate candles, from simple and elegant to bold and artistic.

1. Painted Candles:

One of the easiest ways to decorate a candle is by using acrylic paint. This method allows you to create colorful and unique designs on the candle surface. Start by choosing your favoritecolors of acrylic paint and gathering some small art brushes.

Begin by gently wiping your candle with a clean cloth to remove any dust or debris. Next, use a pencil to lightly sketch your design or pattern onto the candle surface. Now it’s time for the fun part – painting! Be sure to use smaller brushes for intricate designs and allow each color to dry before applying another layer or new color. When you are satisfied with your design, let the paint dry completely before handling it.

2. Glittered Candles:

Add some sparkle to your candles with glitter! First, gather your materials: a plain candle, fine glitter in your chosen color(s), and mod podge or clear craft glue.

Apply a thin layer of glue onto the parts of the candle where you want the glitter adhered. You may use a small brush or sponge applicator for this step. Now sprinkle your glitter generously over the glue-covered areas, covering it completely. Allow the glue to dry for several hours (or as directed on the product label) before handling.

Remember that glittered candles should never be left unattended while burning, as this can pose a fire risk.

3. Ribbon Wrapped Candles:

Elegant yet simple, ribbon wrapped candles make for beautiful table centerpieces or accent pieces throughout your home. For this method, choose a ribbon that matches the color of your candle or complements your décor.

Start by measuring and cutting the desired length of ribbon, ensuring that it will wrap around the candle with enough overlap to secure it. Next, apply a dab of hot glue or double-sided tape on the backside of one end of the ribbon. Press this end firmly onto the candle, and then wrap the ribbon neatly around its circumference. Once you reach the starting point, trim any excess and secure the final end with another dab of glue or tape.

4. Decoupage Candles:

Bring your candles to life using decorative paper, napkins, or fabric to create a decoupage design. Choose a pattern or image that suits your taste and gather your materials: mod podge or clear craft glue, a foam brush, and scissors.

To begin, carefully cut out the chosen design from your selected material. Apply a thin layer of mod podge onto the area where you want to place the cutout on your candle. Lay the cutout over this layer of mod podge, smoothing out any bubbles or wrinkles by gently pressing down with your fingers. Once in place, apply another thin layer of mod podge over the top of the cutout to seal and protect it.

Allow your decoupaged candle to dry completely before handling or displaying it.

Conclusion:

Decorating candles is a fantastic way to express your creativity while adding charm and personality to your living space. With these four simple techniques, you can transform ordinary candles into stunning works of art that are both functional and decorative!
