4 Ways to Contact the FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is a governmental agency responsible for investigating and enforcing United States laws. To ensure public safety and prevent crime, the FBI relies on the cooperation and assistance of citizens. If you need to contact the FBI, there are four primary ways to do so.

1. Tip line

To report a crime or provide information about a criminal act, call the FBI’s tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). This number is staffed 24/7 and allows people to share crucial information related to national security concerns, violent crimes, or cyber crimes. The tip line also accepts reports in multiple languages.

2. Online tips and public leads

The FBI encourages the public to submit useful clues or report possible criminal activity online through their website at https://tips.fbi.gov/. This portal ensures your privacy and confidentiality as you provide details about what you have witnessed or found suspicious. For cyber crime incidents, individuals can report via the dedicated Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at https://www.ic3.gov/.

3. Local field offices

The FBI has 56 field offices throughout the United States, each responsible for covering specific geographic area(s). To contact your local field office directly, use this link: https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/. You can find contact information, including phone numbers and addresses, for every field office on this webpage.

4. In person

In emergency situations or if you possess time-sensitive information, you can visit your nearest FBI field office in person. Security measures are in place to ensure your safety when visiting these facilities. To find the address of an office closest to you, refer to the list of field offices provided above.

It’s important for everyone to play their part in maintaining national security and fighting against criminal activities. By contacting the FBI through any of the four methods above, you are contributing to a safer and more secure community.
