3 Ways to Make Curry Sauce

Introduction:

Curry sauce is a versatile and delicious addition to a variety of dishes. There are countless ways to make curry sauce, but we will be focusing on three popular methods. Each method offers slightly different flavors, textures, and heat levels. Read on to explore these three delightful recipes.

1. Coconut Milk Curry Sauce

Ingredients:

– 1 tbsp vegetable oil
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tbsp grated ginger
– 2 cups coconut milk
– 2 tbsp curry powder
– Salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute.

4. Add the curry powder to the saucepan, stirring well to combine.

5. Pour in the coconut milk and stir until well incorporated.

6. Bring the mixture to a simmer for about 20 minutes or until thickened.

7. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference.

2. Tomato-Based Curry Sauce:

Ingredients:

– 1 tbsp vegetable oil
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tsp grated ginger
– 1 cup tomato passata (pureed tomatoes)
– 2 cups water or vegetable broth
– 3 tbsp curry powder or paste
– Salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute.

4. Add the curry powder or paste to the saucepan, stirring well to combine.

5. Pour in the tomato passata and water or broth, mixing well.

6. Bring the mixture to a simmer for about 30 minutes or until thickened.

7. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference.

3. Yogurt-Based Curry Sauce:

Ingredients:

– 1 tbsp vegetable oil
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tsp grated ginger
– 3 tbsp curry powder or paste
– 1 cup plain unsweetened yogurt
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (coriander)
– Salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute.

4. Add the curry powder or paste to the saucepan, stirring well to combine.

5. Remove the pan from heat and gradually add yogurt to the curry mixture, stirring constantly to ensure a smooth consistency.

6. Return the saucepan to low heat and cook gently for about 10 minutes, being careful not to boil the mixture.

7. Stir in chopped cilantro before serving.
