Introduction:

In today’s digital era, CDs and DVDs are slowly becoming obsolete. That being said, you may still have valuable data stored on them that you’d like to preserve. One solution is to convert the content of your CD or DVD into an ISO image file, making it easy to access and use the data without the need for a physical disc. In this article, we will outline three methods to help you convert your CDs or DVDs into ISO image files.

Method 1: Using a Free Software Tool – ImgBurn

ImgBurn is a popular free software that allows you to create, burn, and convert image files – including converting a CD or DVD into an ISO file.

1. Download and install ImgBurn from their official website.

2. Launch ImgBurn and select “Create image file from disc.”

3. Choose the source as your CD/DVD drive and the destination as the location where you’d like to save the ISO file.

4. Click on “Read” to start the process, and wait until it completes successfully.

Method 2: Using PowerISO

PowerISO is another widely used software tool for creating, editing, compressing, encrypting, and converting images files. Though it’s not entirely free after the trial period, its additional features make it worth considering.

1. Download PowerISO from their official website and install it on your computer.

2. Open PowerISO, click on “Tools” in the menu bar and select “Create an ISO File.”

3. Choose your source CD/DVD drive and specify an output path for the ISO file.

4. Click “OK” to begin the conversion process.

Method 3: Making Use of Daemon Tools Lite

Daemon Tools Lite is a versatile solution for working with various image file formats such as ISO, MDF, NRG, and more.

1. Download and install Daemon Tools Lite from their official website.

2. Launch Daemon Tools Lite and go to “Quick Mount” on the main interface.

3. Locate the CD/DVD drive with the disc you want to convert.

4. Right-click on the drive icon and choose “Create Image.”

5. Select ISO as the output format and choose a destination folder for your ISO file.

6. Click “Start” to begin converting your CD/DVD to an ISO image file.

Conclusion:

Each method above provides its own unique benefits, depending on your needs and preferred software. However, all three can effortlessly help you convert your CD or DVD into an ISO image file, ensuring that you can access important data regardless of physical limitations. By choosing one of these three methods, you’re taking a significant step towards preserving valuable information in a reliable, digital format.
