3 Ways to Clean Cubic Zirconia

Cubic zirconia is a popular, affordable alternative to diamonds, possessing similar sparkle and brilliance. To keep your cubic zirconia jewelry looking its best, it is essential to clean it regularly. Here are three effective ways to clean cubic zirconia:

1. Soap and Water Solution

A mild soap and water solution is a simple yet powerful cleaning method for cubic zirconia. This method is gentle on your jewelry and can be used as often as needed.

Steps:

– Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild dish soap.

– Place your cubic zirconia piece into the soapy solution and let it soak for 10-20 minutes.

– Use a soft-bristle toothbrush or a jewelry brush to gently scrub away any dirt or residue.

– Rinse the jewelry thoroughly under running water, taking care not to drop the piece down the drain.

– Pat dry with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots, then allow the jewelry to air dry completely before storing or wearing.

2. Jewelry Cleaner Solution

A specialized cleaner formulated for jewelry is another effective method for cleaning cubic zirconia. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and ensure the cleaner is suitable for cubic zirconia before using it.

Steps:

– Put on gloves to protect your hands from any chemicals in the cleaner.

– Pour the recommended amount of jewelry cleaner into a small container or use the container provided by the manufacturer.

– Place your cubic zirconia piece into the solution for the recommended time, typically around 5-10 minutes.

– Use a soft-bristle brush or professional jewelry cleaning brush to gently scrub away any remaining dirt or grime.

– Rinse your jewelry well under running water, then pat dry with a lint-free cloth and allow it to air dry before storing or wearing.

3. Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner

An ultrasonic jewelry cleaner uses high-frequency sound waves to agitate a cleaning solution, effectively removing dirt and grime from your jewelry, including cubic zirconia. This method is safe for most types of jewelry, but check the manufacturer’s guidelines before using to avoid any damage.

Steps:

– Fill the ultrasonic jewelry cleaner with the recommended amount of water and an appropriate cleaning solution.

– Place your cubic zirconia jewelry into the cleaner’s basket or tray.

– Turn on the ultrasonic cleaner and let it run for the designated time, which can range from 5-20 minutes depending on the device.

– Once the cleaning cycle is complete, remove the jewelry from the cleaner and rinse it well under running water.

– Pat dry with a lint-free cloth, then allow your piece to air dry before storing or wearing.

In conclusion, cubic zirconia may be an affordable alternative to diamonds, but it still requires proper care to maintain its sparkle. Regular cleaning using soap and water, a jewelry cleaner solution, or an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner will ensure your cubic zirconia pieces stay beautiful for years to come.
